About me
Hi, I’m Brittany!
I am a product designer based in Chicago, IL, with a strong foundation in creativity, honed over 14 years as a hairstylist and barber. I developed a deep appreciation for aesthetics, detail, and creating meaningful experiences. Transitioning into UX/UI design has allowed me to channel my passion for visual storytelling into crafting intuitive, beautiful, and user centered digital interfaces. I am particularly drawn to the art of visual design and photography, where I can blend functionality with striking visuals to create products that not only solve problems but also inspire and delight users.
For 14 years, I thrived as a hair stylist and barber, mastering the art of transforming appearances and instilling confidence in my clients. Beyond the scissors, my career demanded ample attention to detail, an ability to listen deeply, and a knack for anticipating unspoken needs. Every cut and color I crafted was a visual solution tailored to individual desires, a skill rooted in empathy and creativity. Over time, I realized these same attributes could extend beyond the chair, driving impactful experiences in other industries.
The shift into UX/UI design came naturally, as it shares the same human centric principles that governed my styling career. The journey began with a fascination for digital experiences, visual design, and how design influences interaction. As I dove deeper, I uncovered parallels between hairstyling and UX/UI—both require identifying pain points, crafting solutions, and ensuring satisfaction. My creative intuition and understanding of aesthetics gave me a head start in visual design, while my years of client consultations, chemistry formulas, and management skills, honed my user research skills. I immersed myself in design tools and methodologies, fueled by a passion to create intuitive, accessible experiences.
Today, I blend my past and present, designing with the same care and thoughtfulness I brought to hairstyling. My unique background gives me an edge in crafting designs that truly connect with users, recognizing their individuality and needs. The transition has not been without challenges, but each step reinforces my belief in the power of design to transform lives—just as a great hairstyle can. Embracing UX/UI design has allowed me to expand my creative impact and continue my journey of meaningful, people-first problem solving.
